Abstract:
Mangrove plants in the intertidal zone are often difficult to survive after transplantation because of root damage and habitat change. Aim to provide a scientific basis for formulating effective measures for the protection and restoration of mangroves, this study focused on three species of mangroves:Avicennia marina,Kandelia obovata, and Aegiceras corniculatum. The survival status of the transplanted individuals of these three species was monitored, and multi-index analysis was performed to study their physiological adaptation strategies. The results are expected The main results are as follows:①Three months after transplantation, the survival rates of Avicennia marina,Kandelia obovata, and Aegiceras corniculatum were 64.38%,52.78%,and 49.87%,respectively.The rates decreased to 47.95%,47.22%,and 44.35% after 17 months and 42.47%,44.44%,and 41.46% after 22 months.Root damage and low temperature may be the main factors affecting survival.②The mature tree transplantation involved a long recovery period, and the plants of the three species remained in a state of resource reallocation 22 months after transplantation.③The transplanted plants of Avicennia marina showed significantly lower cuticle thickness, upper epidermis thickness,C and K content, and midday water potential during the dry season but significantly higher specific leaf area and Na and Cl content than native habitat individuals, reflecting a high-energy salt-secretion strategy, but with reduced defense capacity and increased insect infestation. The transplanted plants of Kandelia obovata showed significantly lower P and Na content and no significant changes in most leaf traits than native habitat individuals, demonstrating a conserved functional strategy. The transplanted plants of Aegiceras corniculatum showed significantly lower specific leaf area and significantly lower N,P,K,Ca,Na,and Cl content than native habitat individuals, adopting a resource-saving strategy.According to these findings,species-specific management measures after transplantation are recommended:Avicennia marina requires enhanced water supply and pest control;Kandelia obovata can be managed with simplified maintenance;and Aegiceras corniculatum should receive phosphorus fertilizer application. These measures can improve the survival rate and restoration effectiveness of mature mangrove transplantation.
