Abstract:
In this study, heavy metals ( Hg, Cr, Zn, As, Cd, Ni, Cu, Pb ) and radionuclides ( 238U, 232Th, 210Pb, 239+240Pu ) in the surface sediments of the Beibu Gulf of China were comprehensively analyzed to assess their environmental risks and investigate their effectiveness as environmental indicators. The results showed that except for the Cr concentration in some areas exceeding the first category standard, the other heavy metals were lower than the first category standard. The environmental risk assessment of radionuclides shows that 238U and 232Th belong to the second level ( safety level ), while 210Pb and 239+240Pu still lack assessment criteria. The study also found that heavy metals and radionuclides showed a ' T ' spatial distribution, pointing to a variety of pollution sources and transmission mechanisms. The results indicate the importance of using these pollutants as indicators for sustainable development, marine environmental monitoring and management in the Beibu Gulf, and provide a scientific basis for marine environmental protection and pollution control.
